Krit had a lot to live up to in 2012: after releasing two free mixtapes (including the excellent ‘Return of 4eva’ which was on most 2011’s best of lists) his first studio album out in June was one of the most anticipated records of the year. However, he still found time to drop one more free mixtape ‘4eva N a Day’ (for the fans) and it just cemented his reign as “King of the Underground”.
Lead single ‘Boobie Miles’ (named after the Permian High School tail back) is an inspirational track that’s “about overcoming all the obstacles that block your dreams, the sacrifices that come with how hard you have to go to obtain your goal, giving your all no matter what the situation”. With lyrics like “Never drop the ball/ Never accept a loss / Get back up if you fall / And when yo number called / I hope you give your all” it is like the coolest Nike advert ever.
The accompanying video is a beautifully filmed black and white montage of various athletes practicing their skills and shows off that winning starts long before the crowd are there to watch. With the indulgent December period over, NFL in the playoffs stages and March Madness not far away, this is the perfect time to download this track on your ipod, get out there and work your ass off!!!
I’ve come back to this track a lot of the last year, and it never fails to get me going. So there it is, the number one tune of 2012 – let’s see what 2013 has in store!
“The only difference between a winner and a loser is a winner plays until he wins”
