Aaron & The Spell ‘Don’t Cry’

Here’s one that has come a little late on my radar (I am in the UK after all). R&B singer Aaron Brown is Philly soul through and through, and the band he put together for his debut album ‘Sing’ is a testament to the level of musicians Philadelphia has to offer. I’m sure he’ll have a major release out soon with the reception he’s been receiving by media and fans alike. With influences taken from everywhere in the R&B, soul and rock genres his vocals cut through the backing singers and band – check out some more tracks here.

‘Don’t Cry’, released last year, is straight out of 60’s and 70’s Stax Records and harks back to the old time soul days of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Smokey Robinson but with a modern indie edge that keeps him sounding fresh.
