Red Baraat ‘Shruggy Ji’

Red Baraat have been making a name for themselves as the best live band in the world at the moment, and it’s not hard to get sucked in. The Brooklyn based nine-piece group, led by Indian drummer Sunny Jain, mix up the brassy high octane jams of NY with traditional Punjabi and Bhangra sounds that will have a room of people moving within seconds. Their new record ‘Shruggy Ji’ channels that vibe onto speakers in a way that you wouldn’t feel possible – they bring their party to your home.

The lead single ‘Struggy Ji’  is a storming and energetic blast of horn solos, percussion, funky riffs and rap that will raise your pulse into overdrive. This is what it is like if James Brown, Fela Kuti and 70’s bands like Trouble Funk were raised in India… the results are astounding:
