Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou ‘Ecoute ma Melodie’

Last month, the German-based record label Analog Africa released Vol 3 of their archives of Beninese afro-funkers Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou titled “The Skeletal Essences of Afro-Funk 1969-1980” – this is a perfect time to check out a couple of tracks on newtunedaily to get you through the weekend. One of the funkiest bands to ever grace this earth, Orchestre Poly-Rythmo mixed up funk, soul and Latin grooves with their West African traditional sounds. Add in a load of dirty horn solos, fuzzy bass lines and hypnotic rhythms and you have the perfect party music.

Check out track ‘Ecoute ma Melodie’ here and just cos I’m nice watch them perform ‘Houzou Houzou Wa’ below. You won’t be able to sit still!
