The Idan Raichel Project burst onto the music scene in 2003 with their global fusion track ‘Bo’ee’ a song sung in the Ethiopian language of Amharic that became a crossover hit, topped the charts in Israel and turned the dread-locked Israeli musician/producer Idan into a global star. Ten years later, Idan Raichel and his band are back with their sixth album ‘Quarter to Six’ via Cumbancha. A pensive and gentle acoustic-led album, ‘Quarter To Six’ is mostly in Hebrew but has some multilingual influences from international guests including Ana Moura from Portugal, Marta Gomez from Colombia and Andreas Scholl from Germany.
‘Mon Amour’ features a newtunedaily favourite Vieux Farka Touré from Mali, whose soft vocals are the real high point of the album. The video was directed by Gal Katzir and features photographs by Israeli photographer Ziv Koren.
